Tiger Blue is a traditional style phinisi schooner sail boat that can be chartered for trips to the Indonesian islands around Komodo or Raja Ampat, changing location depending on seasons. The journey between is a long sea voyage that guests can book individual cabins on for a fraction of the cost of chartering the whole boat. I was commissioned to join one of these voyages to shoot all the extraordinary remote islands that Tiger Blue stops off at on the way. One night hundreds of miles away from anywhere, we sailed past a lonely volcano that was erupting every few minutes with primeval thunder that shook the whole boat sending rivers of molten lava down its slopes that boiled the sea. Some of the islands we stopped at were home to tribal clans that had almost no contact with or knowledge of the outside world who still dressed in traditional style and hunted with bows and arrows.
