Commission: To Write and photograph The Traveller’s Table for Simpson Travel
My wife Carolyn is a food writer and stylist, so we often work together on food and travel commissions. Simpson Travel commissioned us to travel to every region of the Mediterranean where they had collections of luxury self catering villas. They wanted to inspire their guests to engage with the local food culture in each destination by producing a book of recipes that the guests could follow to create wonderful home cooked dishes using locally sourced ingredients. Our brief was to find weekly village markets, artisan producers, cheese makers, vineyards, olive groves and farm shops where their guests would find all the ingredients needed to cook the dishes Carolyn wrote recipes for, then illustrate the book with food photography and location shots. It was a perfect combination of food and travel that took us back to some familiar places like Turkey and Mallorca but also introduced us to some exciting new destinations like Corsica.
